Morro Rock is pretty much the identifying icon of the Central Coast here in California. It is one of a line of volcanic intrusions called either the Seven Sisters or the Nine Morros depending on who you ask and which peaks in the area are being counted!
The Rock is rather larger than one might guess from this photo (there is actually water between the sand bar shown here and the rock.) It is home to one or two pairs of Peregrine Falcons, another reason birders are found all over the place here!
@mattyb Hi Matty, that is Morro Rock. It is pretty much THE icon of the Central Coast of California, a solid rock that had been quarried for a number of years. Here's a link for more info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morro_Rock

@wahyusp Yup, another HDR. It was a really flat, grey day when I shot this so figured I need HDR to eek out as much color and contrast as possible. In the end, I actually toned DOWN the color for effect! :-)
@emeraldboots Yes, Morro Rock is one of a line of volcanic intrusions called the Seven Sisters. ...Sometimes the chain is called the Nine Morros depending on who you ask and which peaks in the area are being counted!
@digitalrn Thanks, Rick! I edited the caption for a little bit on the Rock. Googling "Morro Bay Rock" will yield quite a number of hits with much more great information.
