Llyn Peninsula#4 - The Sound

Bardsey Sound marks the end of the Llyn Peninsula mainland. It is just 1.9 miles from the mainland to Bardsey Island and known as 'the island of 20,000 Saints'.

Lying between the mainland and the island lies 'The Sound'

This is where seven powerful currents meet to create one of the most turbulent tide races in Wales.

Feared by fishermen and yachtsmen alike, it has provided the final obstacle to the Pilgrim's trying to reach Bardsey Island throughout the ages.

You are able to create your own whirlpool and eddies as you interact with live tide and weather data in this representation of 'The Sound's' treacherous waters at the National Trust Visitor Centre in Aberdaron.

Not only that it creates 'the sonic sound' made by these currents

Great shot and interesting facts!
