These almshouses in Somerton, Somerset are dated 1626.
They were started by Sir Edward Hext before he died in 1624. Originally constructed for eight men to live in, then reduced to four in 1883 when the premises were remodelled.
It is inscribed ''E.H/He hath Dispersed/abroad and Given/to the Poor/His Benevolence/Remaineth for ever/1626".
