Went for a walk in part of the Coedmor National Nature Reserve.
I cam across these very interesting old carvings in a beech tree (I think), off the beaten track!
One of them says 'V.R.G 1947' and the other, more difficult to read says ' P.O.W. ITALIAN -2-44' - the first bit of the date, the day is missing.
I wonder what the stories were behind each carving especially the Italian POW one.
Oh if the tree could talk!!!
The Nature Reserve used to be part of Coedmor Mansion Estate, which was an early-19th-century house surrounded by a garden laid out in Picturesque style.
A layout of paths, steps and bridges is set within extensive woodland on the steep flanks of the dramatic Teifi valley.
