I grew up in the small town of Redding, Connecticut where Mark Twain lived at the end of his life. Last summer we returned for a visit, and I stopped in the library named for this American writer and wit. I couldn't resist buying this paperweight at their tiny gift shop (actually a display at their check out counter) His observation, if anything, is even more true today in this age of rapid change and polarized opinions. I keep this on my desk at school to challenge me to always be ready to consider a new idea.
I have always enjoyed Mark Twain sense of humor and direct, matter-of-fact way of looking at life. Used to enjoy Hal Holbrook's impersonations of him. Twain also has ties to Elmira, NY. Attended a play about him there one summer as my former in-laws lived near there.
I forgot to say ... I love your onion analogy, Allison! You are absoltely right! I've likened "getting to know" 365ers to puzzle, but I think I like onion better!
