Friday afternoon. End-of-camp Reading Celebration for "Hooked on Books." The kids all get certificates and then share the stories they have written with other campers. I walked among the groups, listening to them read and taking pictures of the kids with their friends and their freshly published books. They are all so proud, they are beaming. This quartet poses for the perfect picture and then I see the rascal in the background, doing his best to spoil their moment. I take a deep breath and tell myself, "Look, don't touch," when what I really want to do is grab the kid by the seat of his pants and hustle him right out of the room. Common sense prevails, I give him "The Look" and retake the shot without him.
I am so proud of you Allison for such a display of personal restraint. This is a wonderful idea to spawn a sense of creativity in young people. Sometimes that's all they need, someone to encourage them, and maybe push them a tad, especially if you know they have talent.
Ahh, boys will be boys, lol. It's still a wonderful shot. Maybe you can show this photo to this boy 10 years from now...embarassment is the best revenge lol :)
Aww... they look so happy and proud! I actually like the boy in the background because it seems like such a natural environment of kids; they're not always predictable! So it gives me a chuckle.
A great picture of the four girls sitting prim and proper showing their story book but i do love the "disturber" in the back of the photo i find it hilarious
haha! There's always someone like that! I think this is a good picture and I enjoyed your story. It's not always easy to photograph some shots, so it's interesting to hear the behind the scenes information.
