One of my missions on our New England vacation was to keep a record of dogs and cats who crossed our path. Here are a few.
Top Left: This dog belongs to my brother's neighbor; He's all bark. When I approached him for a picture, he scuttled back to the protection of his front step.
Top Middle: This stray showed up at the nursery to share host duties with Daisy. Note the battle-scarred eye.
Top right: My daughter's cat Abigail, 21 years old, doesn't hear or see too well but still the sweetest of companions. Meg got her when A friend retrieved an injured kitten from a dumpster.
Bottom Left: A cat that made our acquaintance at the Swampscott beach. Very friendly.
Bottom Near Middle: I tried to take this pup's picture as he walked with his owner. The owner was willing but the dog was so loyal, he wouldn't look anywhere but at his master.
Bottom Far Middle: Daisy from the nursery. Remember her?
Bottom Far Right: This is Reggie, a wire haired terrier and a product of divorce. My niece got custody when the original owners couldn't agree on who should take him. It's always the children who suffer.
What a lovely collage, Allison!! I enjoyed meeting all of these adorable pets! ;-))) You can see from the photos that each and every one has their own personality! Abigail looks so sweet! 21 years - your daughter must be taking great care of her! And Reggie is too cute!!! When we went to Greece 2 years ago, I had taken photos of so many stray cats that I made a whole album just with them... I's great to know I am not alone in this ;-)))
Hi Allison! In response to your comment on my "Joyride" shot, it was taken with my iPhone 3GS and the Hipstamatic app. I just tell it which film, flash and lens to use and it does the rest automatically. I have gotten some seriously cool shots with this app. Unfortunately, they only print nicely up to about 4x6. =\ Thank you for your kind words!!! =D
What a cool idea! And you've got some great shots! I love the "all bark" expression, and your daughter's cat looks very much like our Precious (aka Fatness).
I love this because it's the sort of series I'd take of four footed friends with whom we crossed paths...how nice you have all their stories to share.
Thanks for filling in my picture of the church with the story of the Acadians. The whole area is very well documented (and I have a wonderful photo of the bust of HWL on the grounds with a bit if his story), but by the time I get to the computer at night, I'm not writing the best captions I'm afraid... It's great to see friends, but the long days get exhausting, and then I'm pretty well spent by late evening! I'm sure anyone would understand! ...which is to say, thaks for writing the information for everyone!
21 years old is just a phenomenal age for a cat. How wonderful that she's enjoying a long life and being so well cared for. Your response made me smile. I know the affinity our community has for their pets, and this seemed a nice time to send up some thanks for their good care.
this was an interesting plan for your trip. i really like the way the collage turned out!

That's a great idea, I'll have to do that too :D
