Urban textures

How could you walk away from this building? I love the stone work, the colors and mosaic style. Yet here it sits abandoned.
Meanwhile just a few blocks away progress on two apartment conversion projects, which were supposed to be chic industrial-style apartments renovated with historic tax credits, has come to a standstill as the developer and his partner feud over funds needed to finish the project. This photography theme has lead to some pretty depressing stories. I'm ready to move on.
Allison, I agree, the stone work on this building is beautiful. It would be a shame not to bring this building back to life.

Great picture.

When you see a contrast like that you wonder why they cannot put some extra money into some of these buildings to refurbish them and bring them back to life. .

Very interesting pattern....almost easy to get lost into the path of the stones. :)

Eveything about our economy encourages New construction -- and so other resources are just allowed to go to waste. This stone work is gorgeous -- evidently there are no tax credits to encourage someone to reclaim this one. Sad !!

wow - I really thought I was seeing interesting window dressing at first! It took me a minute to realize those are boarded up. This is such a pretty building! Now I'm depressed!

Beautiful building! The boarded up windows at first glance looked like flames, which I suppose it sort of appropriate after reading what you wrote. Sad isn't it.

Sad, sad, sad! Such art in putting all those stones up. I wonder how long it took in man-hours?

Wow, that stonework is amazing! Shame that this building is not in use.

I'm with you ... the stonework is amazing! The plywood over the windows is sad ...

PS - I'd love to HAVE you as a renter! LOL!

Wow! That's gorgeous. And I've been out of the loop, but am just getting a taste of the sad/depressing aspect on the theme. Amazing shots, though -- like this one.

Looks like a beautiful building...too bad, it's abandoned,,, Wonderful shot for the theme, Allison!

Yes Allison this theme has shown us some homes that could be beautiful again if only somone could afford to buy them. what a waste that they stand there empty and neglected...the government spends so much money for causes not as important as this one could be.....

love the stonework..you found a good one.

I'm with you on this theme, Allison...time for something more warm and fuzzy. I do love the textures you've captured here in this photo though. The stonework is beautiful. Hopefully, one day this building can find another owner with an idea for reusing the venue.

The stone work in your picture is beautiful! Wouldn't the windows look lovely with some stained glass? (Of course I can't see the rest of the building, but just this section could look so good!)

Saw Tom Chapin & his daughters do some more songs today...they're just terrific. Was delighted some of our 365ers know who I was talking about!

Cool textures. This actually reminds me of the view when looking out of an airplane and see land parcels. I didn't enter a single photo to the theme and doubt I'll be partaking in our next theme. That being said, hope you like it. It should be a little more uplifting. :)

The textures and colors in this shot really are amazing! This theme really does lead to some sad stories, but I think it also helps us to open our eyes to the reality of the world around us.
