This curious looking piece of red metal is padlocked to the sidewalk. I have no idea what it is or why it is locked. The funny thing is I walk on this sidewalk frequently and i swear i never noticed this before.

Is there a water meter or gas meter under this lock & key?
In any case -- your photo has caught something different and interesting and ideal for the Red Theme.
Lovely. In answer to your question about felting, its just a phrase for shrinking in the washing. The wool can only take up to 30 degrees so washing it at 60 binds the fibres together to make them sturdier & shower proof too. The opposite of what we normally do with our nice woolen jumpers!
Red was such a great choice for this week's theme...it's everywhere! What fun that this new focus has you seeing things you've walked by before... As for what this is...well...it's very red!
love it!! love the play on yale and the red. it's amazing what we notice when we spend a lot of time behind the camera.
Allison, thank you so much for all of your kind words about my zelda mae & selfie photos. and thank you for thinking that i could be in a sitcom and recognizing the loving social commentary i make. it's the foibles of man that i find most interesting. we are funny - both in the lol & the ironic senses. you are a sweetheart & i wish i could give you a great big hug. God bless!
