This afternoon as part of our faculty professional day, my colleague and I did our annual presentation called "Books, Books, Books" The entire Lower School faculty divides into 3 groups and rotates through 3 sessions in the library. My session was entitled "Read-Alouds You'll Love to Read Aloud" and used new fiction and picture books to highlight great topics for discussion. My colleague featured new nonfiction and demonstrated methods to analyze text using these brand new books. Each group also had a period to browse the approximately 325 other new books which we put out on display. At the end of the hour, teachers could check out what ever books they fancied. When the students return to school tomorrow, all the new books that remain will be available for them to check out.
You'll notice I have numbered 3 members of this group so I can comment further.
1. I want to offer Julie an apology for taking this picture as she blinked. She was not sleeping nor in an hypnotic trance.
2. Do you recognize this face? It's my fellow 365-er Karen, aka hwy61.
3. I couldn't resist pointing out Elizabeth has shed her shoes and clearly intends to get comfortable.
@digitalrn The only person I badgered was Nicola on the far left because she was turned away and I made her look at the camera. The teachers always tell us this is their favorite faculty meeting because who doesn't love new books?
Oh wow that sounds like a really awesome presentation! As someone who starts student teaching a year from now, I sure hope whatever school I eventually get a job at will put on presentations similar to yours! :)
