Another "Show-and-Tell" from my office. In 1998 I was awarded a grant to trace the lives of Germany professors, Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. John and I traveled along the Fairytale Road from Frankfurt to Bremen. When we got home I bought this Swarovski crystal paperweight (on eBay!) to commemorate the traditional tale of the Bremen Town Musicians. I always show this to my second grade students at the end of our study. From a distance the crystal appears clear, but as you gaze down from above, the rainbow of colors shine and the silhouettes of the animals of this story appear. It is as magical as the fairytales themselves.

Wow ... what a beauty, Allison. That must have been some trip! This paperweight makes one beautiful photo op... the lighting and the animals do, indeed, make it magical.
