Beccy Feather is a glass maker based in Philadelphia who maintains her own studio and flame working business. She graduated with an MFA in glass from Rochester Institute of Technology and has taught and demonstrated glass making in many institutions across the country. She is visiting our school as a resident artist, thanks to our own Dana Dumont who connected with her at a glass workshop at Corning Museum of Glass. As Dana informed us, Beccy will be demonstrating glass flameworking, making wondrous works in borosilicate and Moretti/Effetre glass.
This class of 4th graders was fascinated by the process of creating bubbles of glass, the drama of the flame (up to 2500 degrees) and the coolness of wearing googles while participating in the demonstration. A great experience for the students and this photographer!
Great collage- love going to Corning and watching the glass blowers there (actually love watching them anywhere!). Great collage- it shows the whole story.
