Stone Soup is an old folk story in which hungry strangers convince the people of a town to each share a small amount of their food in order to make a meal that everyone enjoys.
Collegiate has its own annual tradition of Stone Soup. Every child brings one or two food items that can be stored and they are collected by the FeedMore organization which operates a food pantry for the Richmond area.
On the upper right you can see a representative from each grade level symbolically creating a pot of soup by adding different vegetables. We collected over 1600 pounds of food to stock the pantry for the cold weather ahead.
When I worked as a children's librarian it was one of the story hour favorites! Your school has brought it to modern times. Great idea and program. Nice collage too!
