Every Map Tells a Story

A Collegiate Dad, CEO of Worldview Solutions, came to school to talk to Second Graders about making and using maps in the digital era. His company creates software and provides support for all kinds of organizations that need maps. For example, he talked about emergency personnel finding their way to put out fires and help people in danger. While we watched, he created a map of our Lower School campus, identifying locations the students suggested, then designed an app which he pushed out to the teachers to share with all their students. In answer to the students' questions, he told them that to be a good map designer you needed to study math, writing, and art. I think many of the boys and girls left the program inspired by his words. He also gave each kid a "fidget ball" that looked like a globe which, no doubt, inspired them equally well!
Very cool

Sounds like a great program and it makes me wonder what might have happened if I'd heard something like this at that age as I do like maps!! Nice shot.
