I have never been much of a birder, but the various species in Tanzania were so colorful and distinctive, it was great fun to photograph and identify them. Some of them looked very ordinary until they flew, and then their vivid colors were revealed. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the expertise to catch them on the fly, so I contented myself with beauties like this hornbill that always looked remarkable.
