The public unveiling of Kehinde Wiley’s Rumors of War brought out an estimated 5000 people to celebrate this moment in Virginia history. I love being part of a big exuberant crowd made up of men, women, young, old, White, Black and all so proud of being here and living in the new Richmond. I saw the daughter of my late friend and mentor in the library, I met two retired public librarians, a very stylish landscape architect, a middle school teacher from Richmond Public Schools, and lots of other equally interested and interesting people. What can I say? I love being part of this community!
