A Sad Juxtaposition

The banners on the left are in front of The First Baptist Church of Richmond and celebrate the day of Pentecost. Across Arthur Ashe Boulevard is the statue of Civil War general Stonewall Jackson. Last night in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, demonstrators in Richmond, driven out of Capitol Square by police, moved west along Monument Avenue, defacing the controversial Civil War monuments, setting fires and breaking windows. One can’t help but think of the origins of the Christian Church, that was to be a light to all people, when you witness the anger and frustration of people who face injustice and even death from the majority establishment. Where do Christians stand at this pivotal moment?
I can’t believe what I’m seeing and hearing, all the devastation going on in your country is awful.

@phil_howcroft I wish words would fail him. Just so you know, I didn’t vote for him.
