The Significance of the Pot

Many years ago John and I splurged on a beautul blue ceramic pot from the Lewis Ginter gift shop. It sat next to the front door, filled with pansies in the winter and geraniums all summer. Then one day I went out to water the flowers, and the pot was gone, stolen right out from under my nose, geraniums and all! Disheartened, I never replaced the pot, and I never kept flowers at the front door again.
Fast forward a dozen years and my neighbor leaves me her wonderful blue ceramic pot, even bigger and bluer than my long lost container. It is now filled with phlox but they will not be growing on the front steps. I have learned that lesson.
That is a beautiful pot.

Beautiful! People are sickos. Someone recently clipped off all the daffodils around my Mom's gravestone. I'd say that's about the ultimate low in sick thievery. :( And yet, there's your friend restoring our faith in humanity! :)

@juliedduncan I’ll do you one better. (or worse) One Halloween when I was out trick or treating with my kids, a mother and her little boy came to our door. Of course, no one answered, but ( according to my neighbor who happened to look across the driveway) the mother apparently spotted my little boy’s Big Wheels car tucked behind a bush, and she directed her son to take it. That was the last of the Big Wheels and the last time my son left a riding toy outside.

It's a very selfish society we've created- and one that is used to having everything handed to them. And if it's not handed to you, well, just take it. It's probably why those "Ring" doorbells are so popular now- at least you can let someone know you're watching them steal your stuff.

Glad this beautiful pot will not be in sight of anyone who has that mindset. What a nice friend!
