As I stepped out of the alley at the end of one block I was faced with something totally unexpected. On the next block, adjacent to the alley was a little beauty shop. This was unusual for several reasons. 1. This is a residential neighborhood (hence no signs on the building) 2. All the houses are built east and west on the streets rather than north and south. This is the only structure fronting this particular street, I like the happy face it presents to its customers and passers-by. It reminds me of the book "The Little House" by Virginia Lee Burton, a classic children's story written 60 years ago about urban sprawl and constancy. I think this little house has many stories of its own to tell.
