You've heard the espression, "It never rains but it pours?" Well today was one of those days. A great rain storm swept through, complete with lightning and thunder just as we were preparing for school dismissal. A decision had to be made--continue the regular dismissal procedure or switch to indoor dismissal. Complicating this decision was the fact that the new "loop" road had just become operational across campus and was still in the shake-down phase for Upper School dismissal. Then to top it all off, a water main broke right out side the entrance to the Lower School!
Here you see the number of county vehicles required to work on the gushing water from the broken pipe. This does not include the police cars that were monitoring the traffic entering school and those vehicles just trying to drive by. All this while the rain continued to add to the confusion.
I'm happy to report that indoor dismissal went off with few problems. As for the broken water main...Well, they were still working on it as I drove away.
