Behold the Redbud

In reading about this ornamental tree, I was particularly interested in learning that its flowers are pollinated by long-tongued bees such as blueberry bees and carpenter bees. Short-tongued bees apparently cannot reach the nectaries. (whatever they are) The flowers appear to be tightly wrapped like crepe paper around each branch. The end result is a very different kind of flowering tree than a cherry or apple, which seem to bloom with a great cloud of flowers. It makes a lovely contrast when they grow close together.
Beautiful! Love the color
