In addition to a vast collection of books in the Watt Library, we subscribe to over 35 magazines. These include publications of general interest, (National Geographic Kids) animals, (Young Rider and Dogster) sports, (Sports Illustrated for Kids) cooking, (Chop Chop) crafts (Curious Jane) and magazines especially geared to boys or girls (American Girl, Boys Life). Fourth grade took a week to delve into magazines with which they were unfamiliar and determine the target audience for each publication and what the strengths of the magazine might be.
This is just one way we encourage young readers to expand their horizons.
