I have a question for everyone's favorite librarian! There's a word for this, last seen by me in vintage children's books. Within sentences are added pictures and the reader has to guess what word the picture stands for as they read. I've searched and searched and can't find the answer! Do you know? (It's on the tip of my tongue! So frustrated!!!)
@Weezilou You came to the right place!
Rebus: a puzzle in which words are represented by combinations of pictures and individual letters; for instance, apex might be represented by a picture of an ape followed by a letter X.
@allie912 I KNEW you were up to the challenge! I asked several people (Ken and neighbors), and no one had any idea what I was talking about! Is there anyone that you know of still doing that for kids, or is it very old fashioned? (I've been wracking my brain to no avail, so thank you thank you!)
@Weezilou Put in ârebus books for childrenâ at Amazon and youâll get a fair number. We have some in our collection. They are fun for beginning readers.
