First and Second Graders in our reading enrichment camp put on some plays for Reader's Theater. The first group did Jack and the Beanstalk which was followed by Goldilocks and The Three Bears. I think there was a third production as well, but I had to return to the library, It was fun seeing these kids make these classic fairy tales their own. The audience of adults (including our Lower School Head) and campers gave the players an enthusiastic response.
That's just fantastic. It was one of a range of strategies we encouraged teachers to use when I was on a secondment over ten years ago and was SO much fun for developing readers . They look so involved and happy.
