When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloomed

Walt Whitman wrote a moving poem about the death of Abraham Lincoln with these poignant words. These lilacs greeted us when we arrived at our daughter’s home this afternoon. It is cool and showery and just the beginning of Spring in Massachusetts.
Every detail here, just beautiful!

Lilacs are such a wonderful scent saying spring is here.

I love lilacs and love Whitman's poem as well. Fav. My mother and grandmother had beautiful lilacs in New Jersey. Mom missed them when they retired to Florida, and I miss them in Louisiana.

Oh boy, they look great but they are one of a few that their fragrance gives me an instant migraine
