Following the Future

Today we set out for a winter walk around our nearby lake. We had to take advantage of the sunny day...and I wanted to show the kids some humongous icicles that I noticed last night when I was walking the dog. It felt great to be out and our time was nearly perfect, despite my youngest whining and crying much of the time. It's so tiresome to me when she acts that way. She was cold, but was fully bundled up. Near the end of our time, my middle child said, "Mommy, can you stop taking pictures and take care of Clara. She needs you." Sigh.
This is beautiful Amanda

Gorgeous! Love the blue.
January 3rd, 2013
Oh! So beautiful! I love the colors!
(I've had my kids say something similar before. sigh.) =)
January 3rd, 2013
Beautiful!
January 3rd, 2013
love the reflection - good call on snapping more water than land!
January 3rd, 2013
You are so funny. And poor Clara being drug around in this cold......
Worth it, wasn't it?
I love this shot!!!
January 3rd, 2013
Really nice!
January 3rd, 2013
I love how you composed this so the reflection takes up 2/3 of the space. Lovely blue against the white, too. Great shot!
January 3rd, 2013
That makes me feel cold looking at it! Nice shot though :)
January 3rd, 2013
What a lovely little story. Great shot too! Hope Clara is nice and snug now :)
January 3rd, 2013
Lovely shot Amanda. Its mild & drizzly here in the UK, I would much prefer cold & crisp...
January 3rd, 2013
This is just lovely - all we've got is water. Gallons of it.
January 3rd, 2013
Beautiful capture. I like that you used mostly the reflection.
January 3rd, 2013
great shot!
January 3rd, 2013
Lovely wintery scene. Am jealous of your snow :-(
January 3rd, 2013
Beautiful!
January 3rd, 2013
Your description is real life - children not always happy! This is lovely but does look so cold!
January 3rd, 2013
No open water here. Love all the blue in the reflections. Maybe Clara was tired and not quite over her illness. Hopefully she still takes naps (?) and just needed some rest. My sister always told her kids "we don't whine". And it worked. Never worked for mine.
January 3rd, 2013
ah the joys of parenthood. I dont know if I'll ever be ready for the whining, lol. Beautiful way of framing this shot, really works great. 10 bucks you go jump in that water, HA! :)))
January 3rd, 2013
@wardie Thanks so much, Paul!!

@tryeveryday Thanks, Michelle. I am a blue fan! I liked the coolness of today's shot compared to yesterdays.

@blestmom4 You feel like a failure sometimes with those words...but I think that Clara was just being a crab. She can be that way sometimes. She was bundled up and it was not THAT cold out. She was fussy from the get go. I should have brought a stroller. Thanks, Aly!

@istacy1011 Thank you, Stacy!

@soupermario I've been a reflection lady for a bit now. I love them. Your screen name is fun. Thanks for your great comments, Soup!

@cdonohoue Yes, it was. She was just being a crab. I had bundled her up this time, the punk! Hope to see you this weekend. Thanks, friend...P.S. I mentioned to Lyn that the Cincy ladies were rockin' pp last night. All 3 of us were up at once.:)

@gailn Thanks so much, Gail!!

@rockinrobyn Thanks so much, sweet lady. It meant a lot to me that you mentioned me in your credits. Thank you:).

@katharinehubbard I considered warming up the tones in this shot because it looks so cold, but it was cold, so I went with it. Thanks, Katharine:)!

@seanoneill We came home and had hot cocoa and hot buttered toast. I even started a fire (not in the toaster, but the fireplace). It dried the tears fast!

@karenanne It's so nice...especially with the sun shining. Thanks, lady! Hope that you get cold and crisp soon!

@hopelessromantic Hope it freezes into snow for you soon! Thanks, Peter!

@anazad511 Thanks, Ana. I've been so drawn to reflections recently.

@paulien Thank you very much, Paulien!!

@fueast Aw, I will try to send some your way! Thanks, lady!

@hopess13 Thank you, Rachel!!

@maggiemae So cold, so real. Thanks, Maggiemae. I try to tell it like it is.
January 3rd, 2013
@bpaquette She is fussy a lot and doesn't tolerate the cold well. It could be that she is getting sick again or was tired. She is napping now. Thank goodness! I don't put up with much whining either. Thanks, lady!

@tbats22 Whining is so very draining! Ugh! I just might do that for $10!;-)
January 3rd, 2013
@amandalomonaco I hear enough whining from my husband(aka toddler who never grew up)
January 3rd, 2013
@tbats22 HA!! Mine gets pms...seriously. I don't even get that!
January 3rd, 2013
@amandalomonaco Oh girllll dont get me started on that. His is awful!! Hahahah
January 3rd, 2013
This is beautiful! Love the reflections!
January 3rd, 2013
@orangecrush Thanks very much, Jerry. I was capturing the tree, he walked into the frame and I went with it. The figure added, I think:).
January 3rd, 2013
Beautiful composition
January 3rd, 2013
Lyn
Ah. . .the wisdom of youth, Amanda!! Love the photobomber. ..

Gorgeous composition, that water looks deadly right now.
January 3rd, 2013
love the reflection - great shot
January 3rd, 2013
Beautiful blues, and a beautifully composed shot. Bless your heart, Clara -- oh, the sacrifices we must make for art! :-)
January 4th, 2013
Beautiful! I love the colors and reflection
January 4th, 2013
Congrats for finishing your year on 365. Glad you are going on for a 2nd year. Looks like a great place to get out and walk and shoot.
January 4th, 2013
@sugarmuser Thanks so much, Sharon! You so rocked it with your fabulous macaws! One of your bests:)!

@lyno Sometimes the photobombers MAKE the photo. I love them:). Thanks, Lyn. Will I see you on Saturday?

@psychographer Thanks so much, Lisa. I love reflections lately!:)

@kwind Thanks, Kim. Appreciate that. You back home again?

@michelleyoung It was very icy...geese were standing on it in other places. Thanks, lady!!

@wendyhgill I keep telling her...but she doesn't listen. Thanks, Wendy. I am a blue fan and it aided in emphasizing the coldness.

@sadiec Thanks so much, Miss Sadie lady!

@sailingmusic We love having it nearby. Originally from FL and then from CA, it is so nice to have a body of water nearby even though we are landlocked here. There is even a beach on the lake. Thanks for the sweet comments and follow, Myrna!!
January 4th, 2013
Beautiful reflections! Really nicely composed.
January 4th, 2013

Very nice story shot. Well composed
January 4th, 2013
Nice... I feel that living up north would be wonderful... if only for the beauty shots like these.. =)
January 4th, 2013
What a beautiful shot, Amanda. Love the reflection you captured. What a pretty area. Oh, forgot to lol about your hubby's doors on his car frozen shut yesterday. Wow, what a difference living where you do. I imagine he was not too happy about that.
January 4th, 2013
I love the painterly look of the tree reflected in the water.
January 4th, 2013
Another beautiful shot! And I noticed you were on PP! I love the hot chocolate/fire fix! Nice reflections and ripples!
January 4th, 2013
Oh, poor little Clara, hope she feels happier. Lovely wintery shot and reflection!
January 4th, 2013
nice catch of the long reflections
January 4th, 2013
Very pretty Amanda! This reminds me of the lake, that isn't there while dredging is taking place, where I took the bridge picture.
January 4th, 2013
This is so very gorgeous Amanda! I love love the color of the water and the reflection. I had to laugh about Clara having a rough walk. :) Hopefully after she warmed up she was in better spirits :)
January 4th, 2013
Such a beautiful scene!!
January 4th, 2013

@365inthelifeofjcvogt Thanks, JC...so this year we need to do a photo walk in your backyard and in mine:). See you Saturday. Can't wait to meet your new baby!;-)

@wenbow Thanks so much, Wendy!!

@abhijit Thank you very much, Abhijit!

@cvkitty76 It really is nice, lady. I wouldn't have thought so, but we really love it. Thanks!

@darsphotos He was not...but it prompted him to reach his goal of getting the car into the garage with mine. It took him days to clear the space. And I had my car back today:). So crazy. Thanks, lady!

@cmc1200 I think that it is because the water is so icy. I liked that, too. Thank you, lady!

@nana2r Thanks so much, Carren! Appreciate you letting me know:)!

@aleksandra She is NOT into being cold. I must bundle her like crazy next time...scarf, long johns, wool socks. Thin blooded, I guess. Thanks, lady!

@michaelelliott Thanks so much, Michael. I am in love with reflections and shadows now:).

@skipt07 This lake was 1/4 or so of the way drained up until the rains recently. Thanks so much, Skip. That is my uncle's nickname, too:).

@kbalychev It is rather funny when you aren't in the moment hearing the annoying crabbing. Must bundle her up more next time...my thin blooded baby! Thanks, Kimberly. Back home and she was fine!

@nyusha Thanks so much, Anna!

@annbo Oh, thank you, Ann. Appreciate that.

@rachelmackenzie Thanks, Rachel. I debated whether to warm it up...but went with the blue thus colder look. Glad that you liked that!

@nadaa Thanks so much, Nada!!

@automaticslim Aw, thank you, Andy!!

@emrob I am a blue girl. Thanks so much, Mandy. Happy weekend...almost!
January 4th, 2013
Great shot. You might try framing it so that only the reflection of the tree is present. The blue is gorgeous.
January 5th, 2013
so pretty!
January 5th, 2013
Love all the ripples in the reflections. Hope it wasn't too stressful overall.
January 5th, 2013
@dapinsker I will try. I actually shot it that way, too, but prefered this one. I do like my son in it. I may try to crop this version and post it in another album and tag you or put it on FB. Your screen name is funny, Marc.

@vickisfotos Thanks so much, Miss Vicki!!

@archaeofrog It was ice! Thanks, lady. It was sokay. I hate dealing with crabbiness.
January 5th, 2013
Beautiful tones and composition. So much going on in this photo. The great blue and reflection of the water. The position and angle of the tree. The way the land/ shore line curves away to the next outcrop then to the shores beyond. Even the sleepy village is picturesque. The running person adds life to the scene, movement. You rock. Great capture.
January 6th, 2013
There is just something about this that I love but I have no clue what it is. Fantastic colors, composition, lighting and reflection. Fav for me =)
January 7th, 2013
@losthorizon Love and appreciate your comments, Beau! The sleepy village is a neighborhood next to mine and the runner is my son. I was shooting the tree and he got in the shot. I went with it and loved it in the end. I think that a lone person can really add to a shot. Thanks!

@tanja_1211 Aw, lady, you are very sweet. Thank you. I love this one, too. It's different.:)
January 7th, 2013
Wonderful winter scene.
January 8th, 2013
Love the blue tones and the reflection in this photo! The walker added just the perfect bit of interest to complete the scene.
January 9th, 2013
@bardejov Thanks so much, lady. I love that my son made it in the photo!

@pflaume Really appreciate your sweet comments, Lisa. The walker is my son. LOVE your profile photo, BTW...it's kinda like mine:).
January 9th, 2013
another beautiful shot! You are so talented, Amanda! And yes, I am stalking your photos :)
February 15th, 2013
oh sigh indeed. Poor little babies, all frozen because Mum wants a photo. Hope they got Hot Chocolate and Marshmallows when they got home?
July 8th, 2013
@bobfoto So long ago. I'm sure I did something like that, though. It was really nice out actually. Though slightly frigid!
July 8th, 2013
@kjosie Thank you, lady!!
July 8th, 2013
@amandal - Frigid's not a weather report, its a state of mind.
