Today we set out for a winter walk around our nearby lake. We had to take advantage of the sunny day...and I wanted to show the kids some humongous icicles that I noticed last night when I was walking the dog. It felt great to be out and our time was nearly perfect, despite my youngest whining and crying much of the time. It's so tiresome to me when she acts that way. She was cold, but was fully bundled up. Near the end of our time, my middle child said, "Mommy, can you stop taking pictures and take care of Clara. She needs you." Sigh.
No open water here. Love all the blue in the reflections. Maybe Clara was tired and not quite over her illness. Hopefully she still takes naps (?) and just needed some rest. My sister always told her kids "we don't whine". And it worked. Never worked for mine.
ah the joys of parenthood. I dont know if I'll ever be ready for the whining, lol. Beautiful way of framing this shot, really works great. 10 bucks you go jump in that water, HA! :)))
@tryeveryday Thanks, Michelle. I am a blue fan! I liked the coolness of today's shot compared to yesterdays.
@blestmom4 You feel like a failure sometimes with those words...but I think that Clara was just being a crab. She can be that way sometimes. She was bundled up and it was not THAT cold out. She was fussy from the get go. I should have brought a stroller. Thanks, Aly!
@soupermario I've been a reflection lady for a bit now. I love them. Your screen name is fun. Thanks for your great comments, Soup!
@cdonohoue Yes, it was. She was just being a crab. I had bundled her up this time, the punk! Hope to see you this weekend. Thanks, friend...P.S. I mentioned to Lyn that the Cincy ladies were rockin' pp last night. All 3 of us were up at once.:)
@rockinrobyn Thanks so much, sweet lady. It meant a lot to me that you mentioned me in your credits. Thank you:).
@katharinehubbard I considered warming up the tones in this shot because it looks so cold, but it was cold, so I went with it. Thanks, Katharine:)!
@seanoneill We came home and had hot cocoa and hot buttered toast. I even started a fire (not in the toaster, but the fireplace). It dried the tears fast!
@karenanne It's so nice...especially with the sun shining. Thanks, lady! Hope that you get cold and crisp soon!
@hopelessromantic Hope it freezes into snow for you soon! Thanks, Peter!
@anazad511 Thanks, Ana. I've been so drawn to reflections recently.
@bpaquette She is fussy a lot and doesn't tolerate the cold well. It could be that she is getting sick again or was tired. She is napping now. Thank goodness! I don't put up with much whining either. Thanks, lady!
@tbats22 Whining is so very draining! Ugh! I just might do that for $10!;-)
@sailingmusic We love having it nearby. Originally from FL and then from CA, it is so nice to have a body of water nearby even though we are landlocked here. There is even a beach on the lake. Thanks for the sweet comments and follow, Myrna!!
What a beautiful shot, Amanda. Love the reflection you captured. What a pretty area. Oh, forgot to lol about your hubby's doors on his car frozen shut yesterday. Wow, what a difference living where you do. I imagine he was not too happy about that.
This is so very gorgeous Amanda! I love love the color of the water and the reflection. I had to laugh about Clara having a rough walk. :) Hopefully after she warmed up she was in better spirits :)
@365inthelifeofjcvogt Thanks, JC...so this year we need to do a photo walk in your backyard and in mine:). See you Saturday. Can't wait to meet your new baby!;-)
@cvkitty76 It really is nice, lady. I wouldn't have thought so, but we really love it. Thanks!
@darsphotos He was not...but it prompted him to reach his goal of getting the car into the garage with mine. It took him days to clear the space. And I had my car back today:). So crazy. Thanks, lady!
@cmc1200 I think that it is because the water is so icy. I liked that, too. Thank you, lady!
@nana2r Thanks so much, Carren! Appreciate you letting me know:)!
@aleksandra She is NOT into being cold. I must bundle her like crazy next time...scarf, long johns, wool socks. Thin blooded, I guess. Thanks, lady!
@michaelelliott Thanks so much, Michael. I am in love with reflections and shadows now:).
@skipt07 This lake was 1/4 or so of the way drained up until the rains recently. Thanks so much, Skip. That is my uncle's nickname, too:).
@kbalychev It is rather funny when you aren't in the moment hearing the annoying crabbing. Must bundle her up more next time...my thin blooded baby! Thanks, Kimberly. Back home and she was fine!
@dapinsker I will try. I actually shot it that way, too, but prefered this one. I do like my son in it. I may try to crop this version and post it in another album and tag you or put it on FB. Your screen name is funny, Marc.
Beautiful tones and composition. So much going on in this photo. The great blue and reflection of the water. The position and angle of the tree. The way the land/ shore line curves away to the next outcrop then to the shores beyond. Even the sleepy village is picturesque. The running person adds life to the scene, movement. You rock. Great capture.
@losthorizon Love and appreciate your comments, Beau! The sleepy village is a neighborhood next to mine and the runner is my son. I was shooting the tree and he got in the shot. I went with it and loved it in the end. I think that a lone person can really add to a shot. Thanks!
@tanja_1211 Aw, lady, you are very sweet. Thank you. I love this one, too. It's different.:)
(I've had my kids say something similar before. sigh.) =)
Worth it, wasn't it?
I love this shot!!!

@michelleyoung It was very icy...geese were standing on it in other places. Thanks, lady!!
@wendyhgill I keep telling her...but she doesn't listen. Thanks, Wendy. I am a blue fan and it aided in emphasizing the coldness.
@sadiec Thanks so much, Miss Sadie lady!
