Winding Lane on a Winter's Day by alophoto

Winding Lane on a Winter's Day

Not that you can much tell it is winter by this photo. I was a day (or two) late and a dollar short on this shot of my favorite, tree-lined, windy driveway in the area. I thought a couple nights ago that I should go here to catch it covered in snow. Well the next morning, the snow was melting and by today, well...you can see it's nearly gone.

Last year, I captured a similar shot in the early fall before the leaves fell (one of my faves from my first year): http://365project.org/amandalomonaco/365/2012-10-11

I went back two weeks later to catch it with the leaves changed for fall and was again too late (they had already fallen off). This year, I hope to get it covered in snow and full of fall and maybe even spring color.
What a peaceful shot! And you know what? That melting snow just warms me right up. Enjoy this gorgeous afternoon that we have been gifted with.

I love the tree lined avenue and the way the road is twisty twistying round :o) Sorry you missed the snow but it's a beautiful shot anyway xx

It's nice with just the bits of snow left.. .. tells a bit of a story. I guess one of the things photography teaches us is that we have to capture the moment in the moment as it will never be there just that way again. I get caught all the time.

I love the way the white snow outlines and highlights the details. This is a beautiful scene -- no wonder it keeps calling you back!

Very nice seasonal series Amanda! I like your perspective! It looks like you had a serious melt. We still have snow and it sounds like a mixture of rain, freezing rain and snow tonight and tomorrow.

@skipt07 Send us some, Skip. It makes me sad when it melts...but I did see some tulip shoots today which brought me joy! We still need to take the kids sledding and out for some more snow play this season so I hope we get more! And thank you!!:)

Such a beautiful pathway! I love the thawed look of this - makes it look like warm weather's chasing the cold away. Very pretty shot!

I like the way the road wiggles. And the structure of the fence. It's a well composed shot - well done.

What a wonderful driveway, and your composition is perfection. We got a ton of snow last night and the kids are thrilled that school was cancelled.
