I had a blast going to the zoo with Emily on a class field trip today. The only bummer was being paired up in a group with other parents and kids. I wanted our freedom so I could have time alone with her, pick what we wanted to see and not consider others and be as slow and obnoxious with photos as necessary. We also got rained on and had to leave early. Despite that, I got more photos than I have in quite some time. The animals were definitely photogenic and happy to see me today. And this time I did not have camera or lens envy. Last year I was there with my p&s and felt some inadequacy.
I got so many great photos today, though. I haven't even finished sorting them. This one is my favorites so far. This orangutang was SUCH a poser for me. Here it looked like he was about to break out reciting a Shakespeare soliloquy, "To be or not to be, that is the question." Am I right?
Oh, you are too funny... of course that you couldn't devote just to be a photographer, what about the kids you were suppose to take care of? I love going to the zoo with all the freedom possible. You capture of this orangutan is fabulous. FAV. (and I'll make sure I click at the top)
Great capture Amanda! He or it does have that look on its face that says, "To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis Nobler in the mind to suffer
The Slings and Arrows of outrageous Fortune,
Or to take Arms against a Sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them: to die, to sleep"
Stunning shot, lovely intense colours and sharpness. Saw these guys in the wild a few years back in Borneo, wasn't into photography then which I now regret !
@pflaume Thanks so much for the fav, Miss Lisa. Really appreciate your comments. I love them so much, too. Sweet faces:)!
@johnmnewman Doh! I took so many trips pre photography and it is awful that I let such sights pass me by. Sickening really. Thanks, John. I may not get to the panning challenge this week. I'm taking a break from Get Pushed.
@bardejov You are probably right. I could have spent hours with this guy. I got so many shot of him goofing around. Can't wait to unleash myself;-).

@edie I had no idea it mattered so much. We were pretty good with our p&s's though. Thanks, Edie.

@psychographer Thanks, Lisa. I have a soft spot for the hairy monkeys!!:)
@skipt07 Cool that you remember so much of it, Skip..."no more, and by a sleep we say..." I forget the next part. My friend is a landscape and wildlife photographer and he does it professionally running a ministry with it. He is starting up a new one in fact. I want to be able to use my photography skills for the glory of God...and I dream of one day being a photographer in Heaven. Can you imagine that?! No color tweaking or editing needed:).
@edie I was up 3 times this week. What the heck do I want?! All good. But yes, it stinks to get overlooked. I have an idea for some selfies. Just need to pull them off. Maybe tomorrow!
@amandal This has got to be your camera that captured such a clear shot. I have not had very goo luck at the Sac zoo though so many animals and birds there are so caged in that it is hard to get them without cages or windows or trees in the way.
