Today, I chaperoned the 2nd grade field trip for my son, Lucas' class. I walked around with he and Clara and two other boys from his class at a local woods/park. It was work to keep up with them (especially when stopping to snap photos occasionally). After hiking, we attended a talk by a naturalist at the park who talked about animals with the kids. She brought a couple for them to see including this intense, wide eyed Eastern Screech Owl. I fell in love. One day, I hope to see one in the wild!
Wonderful image so well captured you can see every feather and those eyes wow : we have a barn owl that nests 200 metres away and flies dawn and dusk during the spring summer months !
Great title Amanda!!!! Nice of you to help out! You have been with 2nd graders - so I'll tell you how my day ended. I had two and a half classes by myself! Yikes! I put them in groups and they did a project. It was pretty exciting....and now I need a glass of wine. Maybe a bottle... :)
I thought for sure this was a stuffed taxidermy owl. Fantastic capture! I have seen one in the wild once in my life but it was hiding in a cedar tree very close to the trunk so the view wasn't clear.
Thanks so much for your wonderful comments and faves for this amazing owl lady. Her eyes were so intense. So so glad to have gotten to meet her and caught a decent shot of her face!

Thank you so much for your great comments and faves on this beautiful eyed owl. I was so pleased to see one up close and get a clear shot of her! Really appreciate you!
I wanted to thank you all so much for your lovely comments about this owl shot. I was so pleased to see this gorgeous girl, let alone get a decent photo of her. Thanks for your sweet words and comments!
@rennes Thanks, Lisa. I normally struggle to get clear shots in low light situations without a tripod. And this was a moving subject. I was pleased with how well it turned out despite the circumstances!:)
@gerry Thanks, Gerry. I wonder how SC on the eyes would have worked. I had to edit too much that the original color didn't work. Really appreciate the fave and follow back!
@espyetta Aw, thanks so much, lady. I was soooo excited to get this shot. Many came out fuzzy, but this one was pretty clear with the eyes anyway. So tough for me to get good indoor, low light shots of a moving target. Appreciate the comments and fav!
