This is gorgeous Amanda! Great idea. I always try to make my kids dance in the rain for me and they never want to. I never thought of doing it myself. Very nice soft feel to it but sexy too. fav!
@annbo You are very kind to say that, Ann. This year I set out to master the selfie. I think that I am getting there:). Much more comfortable doing this this time around and it's nice to have them not ALL be silly for a change (though I have to keep doing this silly ones cause it's me:).
@paul2782 Thanks, Paul. I had to make the most of my situation. Glad that I had an idea to redeem the rain.
@masosy Thank you, Kate. I've really gotten into selfies this year. And it is nice that they are not always silly. Maybe I need to mix it up more variety wise?
@pflaume Thanks so much, sweet lady!! You are so kind!
@northy Somehow I had to redeem the rain. It got in the way of my plans and then AHA, I had this idea. It was fun to stand out there in the rain for a bit and let my daughter be my focus model. She loved that.
I'm thinking I like this one best...though both are beautiful! Such a beautiful lady you are!!!! I like the feel of this .it looks as though you are enjoying the rain. Must be refreshing!! The lighting is wonderful!
Wow, such a beautiful selfie! I just love the expression on your face. You're so versatile with selfies - you can be silly and then you can shoot something like this, which has such a different feel! Love it!
@steampowered Thanks, Paul. I was pretty pleased with the final edit!
@eyesmile Thanks so much for your kind comments, Miss Gena. You are sweet.
@archaeofrog It wasn't a huge downpour...just a sprinkle. Thanks for your great comments!
@gozoinklings My mother said that someday I would appreciate my youthful looks. Yes, that someday is now. Finally good to not look my age! Thanks, lady!!
@abhijit Thanks, man. I set out to master them this year. I think that I am getting there. Now I need to master manual mode. I have 2 weeks before NYC and I want to know what I am doing with my camera!!
@kali66 Thanks, Kali. Being such a good selfie lady, that means a lot coming from you. Love how you did those great selfies for the artists challenge and get pushed when we were paired up.
@taffy Aw, thanks. It had been awhile since I'd been popular!
love your expression, tones to match music here better, but love the bokeh and cool tones on the other :-) nice idea to turn what *appears* to be a bummer into a beautiful moment. a life lesson for all our moments in life.....
@moreyoulessme Kinda like the lemons into lemonade lesson. Thank so much for your comments, Jerri! It's amazing how much processing can change the feel of a shot!
@jodimuli Aw, thank you. Pretty stoked to have a decent selfie up there. The last and only selfie to make it up there was a silly one...my last shot of year 1.
@gailmmeek You are funny! I really did enjoy it and met tons of friends that way. I just hate when you are given challenges that you care nothing about learning. I was given the drop shot challenge once and threw a rock in the lake, snapped it splashing and was done with it. I did try to get a drop shot but it wasn't happening with my then point and shoot. Some things I just don't care to do. That's why I quit. I did mostly all that I wanted to do/learn. Now I am giving myself challenges. My current is to learn how to shoot in M in the next two weeks. I usually use Aperture Priority. Hope I succeed!
@amandal yes, you've touched on one of the reasons I don't want to do it either.... being told what to photograph rather than following my own learning curve. But hey, who knows, perhaps I'll do a get pushed one day.
I definitely like this one better, Amanda. I love your processing as it adds so much to this photo. You are so beautiful and you captured that so well in this selfie. Amazing and loving your selfies. FAV I see above you got on the PP with this one. Wow, and congrats.
@darsphotos Thank you, lady. You are so kind to me. Really appreciate the faves. Looking forward to catching up with your photos, too. This year I set out to master the selfie. I think that I am getting there finally!
@amandal you're welcome hun, I really really like this one, it's very honest and beautiful, I wouldn't mind seeing it in simple b&w with the bookeh too, that might have the old days artsy feel to it too..
Oh, I didn't miss this shot. I'm not that out of touch with what's going on here :) The numbers speak for themselves. Nice job on a sultry capture Amanda. More to follow???
@adamj Of course. It's one of the things I want to perfect this year. I am still having a hard time with the focus. Also hope to get a remote timer to help make them easier. I have one in mind for next, but need to figure out how to process it. That will be some work. No great leg ideas yet, though.
The bokeh is a fun edit but I prefer this - it's sensual without being inelegant or tawdry - the sepia tones are rich and warm and the fine vignette gives it a completeness - I don't usually fav selfies but this has lovely style and is beautifully unselfconscious
@pasadenarose It was a weekend that I will always treasure. It was a once and a lifetime experience for me. Love that city. It maybe took SF's place as my favorite city. Photography in a big city is amazing. Wish I got the opportunity more often, but I am at home with kids in the 'burbs!
@bobfoto I get that. I processed and processed this bunches of different ways and this was the winner. It is a little brownish, but I did like the mood. Still surprised that this is my top rated photo, though. I have waaay more popular photos than this. The system is weird I tell you!
Did you post your mullet in your collage of then and now? The whole world wants to see it!!
@amandal - the mullet photo is safely in storage somewhere hundreds of miles from where I now sit. This photo reminds me of the time the countryside around me was ablaze and the midday sun was muted by clouds of smoke and ash. Everything was a hue like this shot. Southern Australia is once again on fire and I daresay a change in weather bringing rain would have many people adopting the same pose as you do here.
This is so emotionally expressive that I can see why it's a highly rated photo. I like the light-hearted version for what it expresses, too, and the bokeh on that one is perfect for that mood.

@sjouk Thanks so much, sweet lady. It was fun to stand in the rain for the selfies:). It had been a long time since I purposely had.
@adamj Ok, then. Maybe you were annoyed that I didn't do that in this shot, thus ignoring it. You used to be a fan of my selfies.
The processing is awesome. It adds so much to the whole mood of the shot.
Hey, I just noticed your new profile pic. M.E. took that one, right? I'm slowly working my way up toward your NYC visit. Must have been a total blast.
Jason's song pick is magic for this
