Alright, folks. Today I captured a big time bucket list shot: a cheetah running top speed. My last and only attempt was an abysmal failure. I stood by the fence at the zoo exhibit and could not get a shot off in time as it ran past. I think I'm getting quicker to the draw and better with my camera. And I've discovered that I am a cat person afterall. I am in love with these amazing creatures!
I'm pulling a George Costanza now and saying, "I'm done!" I'll be taking a week or so off of real life and technology. Hope to return refreshed and with lots of great photos. Take care and see you soon.
Wow, I like them both. I think I prefer the other, though I like how it's entering rather than exiting this shot. Both are fantastic! I'm glad for you!
Such an awesome capture, Amanda. Did you move with with him or stay still and take your photo? I am amazed that the fence is so faded out and this cheetah is so clear. FAV Enjoy your time off.
I prefer the clarity and contrast on the cheetah in the other shot, but i prefer this one overall, partly due to the stretch of the cheetah and partly because the fencing is almost blurred out. Nicely captured Amanda! (I may be taking a break soon too....)
Thanks so much for faving this special shot to me. Oh my goodness, I was elated to capture and witness this. How cool is it that our zoo has a cheetah run show! We got a membership today so I look forward to going back and trying again. Next time, I will try panning him. Is that even possible with such speeds?
@amandal You will have to try to pan him and see what happens. It will be slower than him I think though. All you can do is try. Wish we had the animals here more in the open. Last time we had no cheetah's. Lucky you.
Wo - that is some animal you captured in action there! I really must practise this more. I like the way you say you are getting quicker to draw!
Have a great break.
Awesome capture! Good for your Amanda, we all need a break from time-to-time. Have a good one and look forward to seeing more of your wonderful pics when you get back :)
Thank you all for your wonderful comments on my running cheetah shot. No, this wasn't panning, just a wild click trying to get him in time. I was surprised to actually catch him this time. Next time I try panning. I'm back from my trip/time off and sorting through oodles of photos and trying to catch up with life and all of you. I need another vacation!
