I think it may be time for me to go back to NYC. After all, maybe my sleep can be found there. But then again it's said to be the city that never sleeps. Shoot, there goes that theory.
Thanks for all of your fabulous words of support and kind faves and encouragement yesterday. I spent a lot of time in the sun and playing, dancing and being crazy with my kids. It was a fun and happy day which I very much needed. I will be doing that more often.
In the meantime, I plan to limp along here and do what I can...post fillers, reedits like this one and put up new shots when I take them, and maybe even take time off. Hope to make it out of my 'not feeling it anymore' slump.
Very strong image in black and white! Great symmetry, lines and focus on the flag... glad you spent the day making memories with your kids. Still praying for your sleep to improve. Glad you aren't throwing in the towel.
@calm Really really appreciate your prayers, Cathy. I'm praying, too. I don't know why I get this sometimes (and now more often than not). I took multiple herbal things last night to help and it was still tough to come by. Thanks, sweet lady!!
@seanoneill Thanks so much, my friend. I knew you would like this one. Trying to run ahead to get on that road:)!
@eyesmile Oh thank you, Gena. I really love this one, too! I think I preferred it to the color.
As I viewed this, a thought came to mind. I admit, I could be wrong. My theory is this. You went on a once in a lifetime trip to the Big Apple and took in some of the spectacular sights and sounds that can only be experienced in New York City. You return home after a short stay with your mind swirling with the images and memories of your experience. You look around at the city where you have lived most if not all of your life and it seems so mundane. Why? Because you have seen it all over and over and when compared to your experience in New York, it just doesn't measure up. That artistic person that lives inside of you screams because it needs another fix. It doesn't want the mundane any more. But do you know what Amanda? You were a talented photographer before you went to New York. You had hundreds of followers before New York. Your life was rich before New York. Your New York experience has added to who you are, but New York isn't who you are.
@skipt07 Good thoughts, wise words, Skip. Thank you for them. I admit to being bored with home after New York. I've been where I am not for only a year and a half. Grew up in FL, lived 7 years in California and now here in OH. At first the new place was full of photo ops and excitement. Less so now. I think that my slump now is mainly due to life stresses and circumstances. So glad it is fall, as that lends to lovely ops. I'm having a meet up with a local 365er today to hope to capture some fall color. Thanks for the pep talk. New York, shmoo york. I love my home and wouldn't want to live anywhere else at this point...but to travel more...that would be nice! Someday...:).
there, skip said it for me. but may i add, just don't start running naked in the streets just to liven up your mood. at least wait till there are five of us in there then we can take shots. and just to remind you, you do have killer legs! smile, kiddo. take it from an old person: do not waste time worrying about your boredom - not worth it!
@summerfield .... lol .... l just spit out my coffeee ... and knowing some of the things this lady does .. it wouldnt be beyond her ... Even if it does not raise her spirits ... it may cheer a lot many ... lol .. !!
Amananda .. personally though I think the original is a amazing shot .. for some reason I like this better ... I guess in a way it aptly refects the current state you are describing ... for me this is a instant Fav!!
To Skip's point, we moved into a different office in July. I was immediately noticing the shadows filtered through the blinds, etc. because it was new. Now that the newness is going away, those things are not smacking me in the face as they first did. So now I have to tell myself to stop looking for stuff and let it come to me.
And, by the way, this IS an incredible image... so well composed!
@deniseescovino YES!!! I so wish that I had lived there once. Went to school there or something. Or I'd love to go visit there once or twice a year. I need more money so I can travel more. Such a fab place to see, visit and photograph. I was living a dream for my few days there. Thanks so much for the fav!!!
@summerfield Aw, thank you, friend. I adored being on the bridge and walking along with my NYC 365 friends. I was so distracted that I ended up running into a metal light post and knee capping myself...oooof! Real graceful!:)
Looove this shot, Amanda, even more so than the first, but then I'm a bit of a sucker for b&w...
Pleased today was better than yesterday - if it helps though, remember what I said a few weeks ago - you (and one or two others) are the spirit of 365 - feed off it and use it if you can to help get through this difficult period - the fantastic 365 community won't mind whatever you decide.
@cathrinemitch I really preferred the b&w version and the high contrasts. It made it more powerful an image I think. Ooops, can you recheck the button...your fav didn't go through. Thanks, sweet lady!!
great work on the re-edit! do what is right for you Amanda... if you need to take time off to take care of YOU, do it. sending up some prayers for you!
Wonderful shot, great lines and beautiful processing. I am sure everything will sort itself out and in the meantime, do what you have to do, to ensure that you have fun, less stress and take care care of yourself and your family :-)
Girl, pull out the Beastie Boys and rock. This is an amazing shot. I'm working my way around your photos some and I've got to get back to work, but I'm in love with that shot you just posted (the kids) and this one -- a fav.
@moreyoulessme I did, too...it was one where this was my preference, but went with hubby's suggestion and used color in the first place. I need to trust my gut more. Thanks for your fav and kind words!
@paulaw Thanks, Paula. So honored to have a pile of faves. Thank you for adding yours:).
@deeganp Thanks so much, Pea! I am finally. Praising God for that. Appreciate you asking and for your sweet fav!
@darylo Aw, Daryl, you are sweet. Thanks for the fav and your kind words. Rocking out to the Beastie's in my head now. Love them!! Wanna hear a funny story about that...recently I borrowed a movie from the library called "Magic Mike." It came out right after Mike D died and I totally thought it was a film about how the band got started. Nope it was a movie about male strippers and I kept waiting for them to rap. Never happened. I felt like an idiot.
@jdr4690 Thanks so much for the kind words and fav, Rob!!
@jsw0109 THANK YOU, Jeff. I really need that and appreciate the offer. I had to post this version finally as it was my favorite (you liked it too, I remember). I appreciate you, succa:)!
Love both the colour and b&w. I've already said it before but do what's right for you. Keep smiling, find the fun and try not to stress too much. Life has a way of working itself out.
@thirtysevenways Thanks, Andy. Really appreciate your support. I was soooo blue this week. A combination of so many things. I couldn't stand myself I was so miserable. Finding my way out and I actually got a decent night's sleep last night. Praising God for that!!:)
@northy Aw, you are the best. Thanks for the fav and kind words!!
@dreamatrix Thanks so much for the kind words and fav, my friend!!

Thank you all so very much for your great comments on my reedit of the fabulous Brooklyn Bridge. And last night, I got a good night's sleep without a trip to the Big Apple. Grateful!!:)
@jyokota Maybe my ears were burning. So glad that you got to meet up and see NYC with ME. My meet up this past summer was really one of the best days of my life...an amazing, perhaps once in a lifetime experience. Love that you have had so many times meeting other 365ers. Must make it out to your wonderful city!! Oh the bridge was wonderful. I need to see NYC at night...I missed that. Thanks, Junko!
@tanja_1211 Aw, you are so sweet. Thanks, Tanja. Before 365, I really did not appreciate b&w photography, but have really grown to like it a bunch. Or at least see times where it is the best choice like here:)!
