I had a girls night the other night with my mom and sister. Katie (my sis) had us over to her lovely new home and made us a wonderful dinner of enchiladas. Then we went for a walk in the beautiful woods near her place. And I saw this gorgeous fall scene. Trouble was, it was too dark for me to get a good photo. Luckily the weather complied and I was able to go back the next morning and hiked around trying to find it. I finally did. So pleased to see such amazing fall color and scenes around us. I lived without any fall change most of my life so I appreciate the heck out of it now.
I just loved how the orange leaves framed so nicely the colorful woods over the water. Kind of watercolor looking and abstract funky, but I dig it.
Here's a life update...we finally decided to go for the house that we've been liking since the beginning of our search...the first one I found and we had inspected already. The one with the foundational issues. Well we put in an offer and found out that the owner is going with another buyer. It's like we are starting over. It was pretty disheartening, but good to at least rule that place out so that we can move forward. I think that tomorrow we are going to see more places, but ones that will force us to change the kids school.
Listening to old school music (Beastie Boys and Red Hot Chili Peppers) and drinking a beer. Glad it's the weekend. Despite set backs and frustrations, life is good. Be blessed!!
Not easy looking for a place! Sorry to hear you lost the one you put an offer on. Hopefully you'll find a house you like even more and that does not have any issues.
Lovely shot
I like the framing a lot. Beautiful colours in the background. Winter will be with you in no time! The right place will come along and kids are really adaptable as long as the parents remain positive. A&F will be leaving their best friends of over three years behind when we move. It will be hard but they will make new friends and their friends from Nouméa will come and stay. Oh, Fav btw.
This is really gorgeous. The colours are beautiful and I love how the orange leaves frame the picture. Sorry the house didn't work out but I am sure there is going to be a house just right for you and your family.
Fav...beautiful capture Amanda, loving the vibrant colors of the leaves and framing...well done. Hugs...I'm sorry you didn't get the house, it just wasn't meant to be but don't let that get you down because there is a house out there with your name on it =)
Oh and enjoy your beer and evening =)
Really beautiful picture. I know it doesn't take away the sting of disappointment but you do not want a house with foundation issues. The right house will come along : ) I know, easier said than done !
Don't be discouraged. It more than likely a blessing that the house with foundational issues was taken! Some things are easily corrected, but not foundation problems. I have learned that it is rarely a good idea to make a decision when under pressure like this. I know how hard it can be when things are seemingly going against you, but it more than likely could be for a reason we fully don't understand right now.
Perfectly composed to highlight the lovely fall foliage. Sounds like you're going through your own seasonal change -- here's to trust in divine order! Fav.
Super gorgeous scene! Glad you were able to find it and get the light. Sorry to hear about the house. Disappointing to say the least, but know that things will always work out.
gorgeous colors ..love the two layers ... in the front and back ... separated by the waters ... very beautiful ...Fav ...and best wishes on your search my friend!!
Oh, frustrating hè...Hope you soon get another fine house...once when we were in this position I just made a picture in my head with my wishes ( big enough and a good place / feel for all of us and the time when we would like to move. Did this to protect myself for (to much) worrying so if I was in the worrying mood I would focus on the wish-image. And a big part of me doubted very much of doing it this way (as if it would be better to worry ;-)) and...It came out exactly as I wished...wonderful isn't it ?
(Please don't pay attention to my English because wrote it down without checking..)
Wonderful image and fabulous framing, you capture fall so beautifully. Hope your situation sorts itself out very soon, it must be pretty stressful. We are thinking of moving and get out of London to give our kids a better quality of life and we can do it in our time but the idea of dealing with visits, move, changing school for Evie and nursery for Celeste is not fun let alone finding a new place to live, yet we can do it in our own time so thinking of you and hope the perfect house presents itself vey quickly!
@stimuloog You are so sweet, Marloes. That means a lot to me, thank you!!!
@carolmw I loved that about this image. Thanks so much for the fav, Carol!
@friend2303 Thanks so much, Vijay. We found THE BEST place yesterday...pure perfection, and then found out it is in a crappy school district. Fail. Off to see more today!:)
@thirtysevenways I know they are adaptable. If we move them again to a new school, it will be their 3rd elementary school. Like army brats. It's not ideal, but it may have to be that way. Today we are looking at more places that would move us out of the school district. The neighboring one may even be a better district, though. Yesterday we found the MOST perfect house ever, but in a crappy district. Their education is more important than I kick a$$ house. We'll take the shack please;-). Thanks, Andy! I want to see your new place. Photos?
Love the framing. Such clarity and awesome light shining through those leaves and framing such different colours in the background. Sorry about the house but I'm sure it's destiny that the right thing will be just around the corner for you xx
@christinemgrote Thanks so much, Christine!! We keep looking. The process isn't so much fun. So tough with 3 kids, their input and schools to consider.
I want to that you all so very much for your outpouring of love, support and well wishes and prayers during this time of househunting and stress in our lives. It's not such a fun process and the hardest time we've had at it in that we have 3 children now to consider and schools to weigh, and...Anyway, we are sooo looking forward to finding the right place and settling down again!
Thanks soooo much, too, for liking this shot so much. I really did a bunch, too, but it is nice when you all confirm my feelings with a shot. This was kind of funky and different and that is why I liked it. So loving fall. Thanks for sharing it with me in photos:). I so appreciate you all!
Lovely shot
