Yesterday I mentioned my need for color, lots and lot of color. I am over grayness and drab and cold.
And this morning, I was gifted with a gloriously colorful sunrise right out my back window. I spent a few moments enjoying it and basking in the color and then I snapped some photos to capture it's beauty for you.
I decided to try out some ICM today and liked how it gave it a forest fire like effect. This shot is SOOC and no actual fire was involved thankfully. Just the wonderful glowing ball of sun lighting up my life today.
Hope that you had a beautiful start to your new weeks, my friends!
@friend2303 Look what you made me go and do today!! I had done some ICM last year, but I did it horizontally, not vertically. I also had tried the zoom burst effect a couple of times. Just check your extif for your shots and saw one with the aperture set to f/22. Is that the norm for you? What ISO do you shoot ICM in? I was using 100 and f/16.
stunning .. looks like its on fire .. love the effect ... big FAV .. I vary my aperture from f/16 to high 20s depending on light since a shutter of 1/6 is where I am - and I wasnt paying attention to ISO - but now it should be around 100-200 ... anyways ... love your results .. its always fun since you never really know what you'lll get ... and it can create interest in the most unlikeliest settings right? :-)
@friend2303 Yes, sir. Thanks so much for your great comments, info on settings and fav. Maybe I will become an ICM junkie like you;-). It's super fun and neat to see what you get. I took maybe 6 shots using the same settings and each was totally different. Some were completely smooth, some were shaky. Yeah, too much coffee prior to shooting:). I appreciate you!
Wow.... I am not normally a huge fan of ICM but this is outstanding.... easily the best I have ever seen.... I love that colour and the bold contrast of the trees...an instant fav! =)
@darsphotos Unprocessed, my friend. I just changed the settings and moved the camera up as I shot. Colors and everything are SOOC. Couldn't believe how it came out! Thanks so much!!!
@amandal Shoot, I read that you said SOOC. Sorry about that. Amazing what your camera can do and does look like fire. Remember back in the day, lol, when it was not about changing settings on our cameras and now with your new camera it is becoming more comfortable. Looking forward to the day I can do the same when I get a new camera. Will be a while though. I am still on Auto and so envious as to what you can do with settings.
ICM I googled it and came up with nothing that fit... thought about it some more and a lightbulb went off "In Camera Manipulation" . This is fantastic do you remember what you did in camera if you don't mind me asking ?
FAV
@lesip Intentional camera movement. I had the ISO set to 100, the aperture set to f16, was shooting in A mode. I think that I moved the camera slowly up, straight after pressing the shutter. I took about 6-8 versions and they all came out completely different. Try it. You can get some awesome results. Here was what I did with it last year...this one was moving the camera sideways: http://365project.org/amandal/365-year-2/2013-02-09
This was also a sunrise, and pretty in it's own way, but a little too pinky for my tastes. I am a bolder color lady and this one was more my fav!
@amandal Thanks what a difference it made. I did try this once and also with trees but didn't know to call it ICM. Went looking through my albums and found it . I will definitely try it again now with an interesting sky like yours. http://365project.org/lesip/extras/2013-04-24
Wahoo! Congratulations on the Popular Page! This is absolutely gorgeous!! I'll have to try intentional camera movement one day. When it gets warm, and the sun shines and the wind stops blowing...
You are going to frame this, aren't you?
@smellychelli I really need to. I have so many images that I really should do something with. I've only printed a few of my shots in my 2+ years doing this. Now that I am in a new place, I should start looking around and seeing which wall space need a little summin' summin';-). Thanks, Michelle! I appreciate you!
