This is our little squirrel that hangs out/lives in our backyard. His little squirrely tracks are all over the snow on our back deck and I catch him trying to get the seed on the ground under our bird feeder. He seems scared of me and whenever I get near the windows with my big scary camera, he bolts. But on my second attempt today, he just watched me suspiciously from his spot on the steps. I got a couple shots of him sizing me up (we were sizing each other up, I guess) and then he turned his tail and headed for the trees.
I've decided that he will be my friend. Our little squirrely neighbor. Just look at that face!
@lucypics I screwed up the exposure again...so so tough to get right with backlighting and quick animals/birds. But thank heavens for editing:). Thanks, Lucy. Glad I got more than his butt this time. Only wish that his fluffy tail had been up.
When I first got married, we had a "pet" squirrel that lived around the house. He would come halfway down the tree and "talk" to our dog who would sit and listen. If the dog wasn't around, he would come and sit on our knee and take nuts from our hands. It was sooo cool! Haven't had a squirrel at any of the last 3 houses. :( I miss them!
Sooo very cute and against that snow...wow! He's adorable. I am sure he was waiting for a handout. Charlie is missing his squirrels who live in the back yard at home. If we mention the word his head perks up and looks outside to see if they are there. The first thing he does when we get home is run to the back door to look for them. I really think they enjoy him chasing them (know he'll never catch them) as much as he does chasing them. It is sooo comical.
Very well done squirrel shot!! Loving the background and pure white snow, as it really sets off the little guy. Great negative space (and, BTW, guessing the 'ghost' at Brooklyn Bridge was close -- Junko, yes, but Michael, not Adam)
@skipt07 I had to because the exposure was way off and it was so dark and gray. Loved the effect and the processing in the end. It's amazing how you can save a photo with the right processing:). thanks, Skip!
I laughed out loud as I scrolled into this photo on the "Your Favorite Picture from your Project" thread. What a character! He needs a thought bubble over his head; there are so many possible captions for this photo. Well done!
@gwynkm Aw, thanks so much, Gwyn. I can't stop taking photos of them. I posted two and had to physically restrain myself from posting another last night. Maybe later this week on a dud day;-).
Thank you so much for your great comments and faves on this sweety squirrel. I got another shot of him that I will probably post soon. Gosh I love him!
@rvwalker Here is an example of where I did what I described in your elk shot, but yes, the color wasn't so natural for the squirrel in the end. I'm weird, what can I say:). Happy weekend!
@amandal I see what you mean, Amanda. I like your squirrel, but it comes down to the photographer's goal in presenting a photo. I enjoy the cute and/or graphic animal presentations I see on 365 very much, but really get knocked out by the more natural nature photos by people like @hollandcrew or @jackster (now inactive). While I can't hope to match the quality of those guys, my personal style will be a more natural presentation for wildlife photos, when I can get them. Thanks for your great comments.
@baznman Thanks so much, man. Really appreciate that.
@roseolivia Aw, thank you, my friend!!
@tiffanytobe So appreciate that, lady!!
@happysnap Thanks so much, Miss Linda. Really appreciate that!

Really appreciate your great comments and faves, my friends. Man, what a little character this guys is. I see him everyday now. More shots to come:).
