Save me from the clutches of the evil witch. And we will ride off into the sunset and live happily ever after, of course.
Great story, but who is the evil witch?!
My Emily is so creative, such a dreamer. She's loves to write and comes up with some amazing stories. Next week is her birthday, so this is perhaps one of her last portraits at age 7.
An old dog can learn new tricks, see:). I had a one on one lesson with a local professional photographer yesterday that gave me pointers on capturing my kids using indoor light shooting in manual. This weekend, we are meeting at a park and she will go over outdoor settings with me. This was a practice shot with the new things I learned. How did I do? I was pretty pleased with the result. It doesn't hurt that I have a wonderful and willing model.
I think you did very well, the light is nice and soft. How nice to have a professional photographer giving you lessons! Your daughter sound a lot like her mother, talented and creative. She´s very pretty too :)
This came out great . Is she under the skylight? How wonderful to be getting some hints on getting your setting . Looks like you are an excellent pupil !!!
@roseolivia Thanks for that, Rachel. I really love this one and was amazed at how amazing the lighting came out shooting in M with the proper settings! So stoked to learn new things!
@amandal - you know, i saw a poster once with the caption along this line: children should only have child-sized problems. and that came to mind when i saw this. i remember when i was still a child that i wanted to grow up because i wanted to work so i can help out my family. but i saw my younger siblings and my little boy when they play and their only problem would be the toy was broken, how it could be fixed; i'm going to fly someday with the birds and walk on a rainbow and play on the clouds. and that's childhood. take care of them kids, but i know you are, and you are doing a great job. yay! now go forth and take photos. :-)
@summerfield Such a great sounding message and poster. Wish you had had that when you were a kid. Do you play lots now to make up for lost time. You seem a fun, playful sort. How old is your boy now? Love your plans for the future. Sounds like a perfect selfie to portray someday. Perfect for the whimsiclal theme!
@summerfield He's my age (about). I'm 38. You could be my mama. That would be fun. I'm anal, too. Sounds like similar personalities. I can be uber fun and seriously not fun and all about business. I want to mellow out more. Not particularly gifted in patience either. Ugh, I suck;).
@amandal - when i was younger until about 50 i used to be sooooo moody, even i couldn't stand myself. i am known among my friends to break a whole set of china and crystalware and not that i would regret it after. i was anal and moody and impatient and i seldom smiled. but i have mellowed. i just crumple pop cans now when i get mad. or i just gluttonize myself with chocolate and cookies. more fun that way!
@summerfield Mmmm, chocolate and cookies. I don't break stuff, just yell. Hope that I mellow with age and perhaps improve knowing my flaws and imperfections. This little one and I are like oil and water sometimes. She is so stinkin' sensitive and I don't much relate to that.
@bill_fe So glad to have someone actually sit down with me in my house who analysed the light and hooked me up with settings. Sheesh. What a great experience. Can't wait for my outside lesson:). Thank you!!
You did great!! That's my dream, to have a one-to-one lesson. Who decided the topic? How did you find your photographer instructor? I love this shot -- happiness comes through so well.
I love this shot, Amanda. You did a great job on this one as did, Clara. I cannot wait to have my one on one where I bought my camera. Love it in B&W. FAV
Pretty amazing Amanda. This is such a wonderful moment in your daughters life and yours, keep on shooting. I love the tones in b&w, I too have been playing with b&w tones as well. This shot really jumped out as perfect to me. FAV
@taffy It was awesome. I've often thought..."If only someone could sit down with me for a little while." It was my anniversary present. She offers this, my husband were recommended the gift through friends in the neighborhood who have a similar camera. She came to my house, looked at my light and gave me suggestions based on what I am working with. We meet at a park this weekend for outside settings and help. thanks, Taffy. Hope you can find something similar.
What a beautiful expression you've captured here. So joy and delight. Thanks for the follow and I'm excited to follow you too! (I feel like we've crossed paths many times before). Your first day of school shot still sticks in my mind, and I'm happy to announce that after 3 weeks our teachers have finally settled a deal and our kids got to start school today (they've been off for 3 months now after missing a few weeks at the end of the last school year!).
@kiwichick Oh good. So many teachers on strike around the world. Glad that the kiddos can get back to school. Thanks, Lesley. So glad to follow each other. Love that you were always supporting Andy, too. I so loved your fun shot of the kids for last 6 ws:). Just gave me such a smile every time I saw it.
@susale You are so sweet. Thank you, Suse!!
@lisafrances Thanks so much!!!
@bella_ss Aw, thanks so much!!
