Capturing leaf action, the swirling of them in the sky or on the ground, and one falling to the ground became a goal of mine this autumn.
It's been windy a bunch lately and I've seen the leaves coming down and blowing around like snow in the sky. It's pretty incredible, but has been tough, elusive to get.
The other day, though, I noticed it at a neighbors house during a walk and went back with my camera and camped out for awhile. I got 3 good shots of leaves raining down. One was not as crisp. This is two of them combined...layered in one leaf from the other shot. This is also pretty cropped in. Too much? Would you want to see more sky? Maybe I will put up that version, too.
Just loved how it felt like I was being rained down on, like I was in a ticker tape parade or at a party with confetti. Nature's confetti. Fall's last dance. Just amazing!
Instant fav! Yesterday during my lunch hour walk, I was hoping to see some falling leaves. Of course, since I was standing there with my camera, they all decided to hang on the trees for dear life! This is a wonderful capture - I love the leaf-to-sky ratio!
@linnypinny@helly31 Thanks sooo much, ladies. I was pretty happy to catch this. Leaves are tricky buggers. Their fall is so erratic. Even standing there for so long, it took awhile.
@pflume Lisa, you inspired me with your mid air falling leaf shot last year!
On the way to school this morning leaves were " raining down" I wished I had my camera to try and capture just this. I love the sky. I love the image. I may have to try and copy....
@amandal its raining "water in big droplets that get you wet" now..... I have so many autumn shots I want to try and fear autumn will be over before I do....Guess there is next year and the next year..
@bill_fe I shoot primarily in A...aperture priority. That is what I was using here. I did crop out other leaves but they were smaller and more obscured. Thanks!
@summerfield Totally. Or spend a bit on your lunch break. It was fun to stand in the raining leaves. Only they weren't coming so strong by the time I went back with my camera. Thanks, my friend!!
I think you have just the right amount of sky ... it's the leaves I want to see falling. This is great and gives you that feeling of a crisp, Fall day with a wonderful breeze. I am waiting for enough leaves (ours are just starting to fall a little) where I can drive (my husband drive) and I can take a photo of the leaves blowing around on the road after the truck has driven through them!!! I think that is soooooooo pretty! Maybe you can get one first since you all ready have leaves. I love to watch them dance across and down the road!!! Big, Big FAV!!
@taffy Many, many, many attempts. I hate stuff like that that is hard to capture. Normally I don't have the patience, but made this one a goal. It helped to go at the right windy time when I saw them raining down in bunches. It mostly let up by the time I got there, but I did manage to get some good ones. Thanks, Taffy!
LOL I so wanted a picture like this the other day- but I could not get myself in sync with the falling leaves. I'm just glad no one saw me attempting the shot! This is great!
@olivetreeann And here i was in a neighbors yard and driveway for this. I don't think they were home. I hope not anyway. Thanks, Ann...try try again:).
