The other day, Clara said that there was a “big bird” in our back yard. I peered out and saw a hawk in a tree in our yard. Then I ran and grabbed my camera like any good photographer would.
He was staring intently at our bird feeder, sneaky thing. And he was so wonderfully camouflaged with the winter trees. Look at how he matches!
I shot him some from inside then went out and he allowed me to get really close and shoot a bunch before he flew off.
“Hi Mr. Hawk neighbor, I haven’t met you yet. I’m Amanda.”
Silence.
“Um, is your name Moe?”
Nothing.
“Faux?”
He may have smirked.
“Tommy?”
He was just intensely staring me down silently. Did he just lick his beak?
“Well, ok, I’ll call you Tommy Hawk. I met your friend Tony recently”
“Golly, you don't say much. Nice camo. Can you believe we spotted you? Who has hawk eyes now? Hope you get some lunch, but leave the cute little chickadees alone, would you? Bye."
I enjoyed my time with Tommy and the fun conversation though it was a bit one sided. Talk about one intense dude. And let me just say that it is seriously cool to have a hawk visit me in my own yard!!
Oh and for those of you that knew, I had a job interview and got a job yesterday. I will be working part time as an event coordinator for a company that does job fairs around the US and Canada. I start next week. It will be my first time really getting back into the job world since I had my son in 2005. Hope that the transition goes well and that all the childcare comes together (it's mostly while the kids are at school but the summer still needs to be figured out). Looking forward to adult time again and a little more life outside of the home!
Here was Tony from last month:

And for fun, here is my first hawk shot that I got in my 3rd week of 365 way back when... I've come a long way:

@susale Yes, it has been awhile. I did some part time childcare from home and a little bit of part time work for our church, but this will be a bit more. Glad it is still part time, but let's me get out there again. And it is similar to what I did before, not just a job at a store or coffee shop. Congrats to you, too!!
@cejaanderson Thanks so much, Jane!!!
I have the recipe posted on my page as Amy-lee requested.
Congratulations on the job too!
(It sounds like something you'll enjoy and will be able to utilize your creative talents).
