Raccoona Matata, What a Wonderful Word! by alophoto

Raccoona Matata, What a Wonderful Word!

When I got home from the frogs, he was hanging out on my back deck at the window. A sweet raccoon with an injured back leg. Michael and the girls gave him food, water and prayers.

He came back later that night but we haven't seen him since. Sooo cute!!

We were trying to decide what to call him. Emily landed on Bandit, I liked Ricky, Lucas wanted Bob and Michael had this witty name, Raccoona Matata.

We call him whatever we like, though, so the poor thing is confused.

No worries:).
lol
a cutie

It's impressive that even injured, he was willing to be close to you. He looks a little nervous.

I miss racoons! We had a family in the backyard in MI who would always come to visit - once I found them on the patio table drinking juice from a forgotten kiddy juice box. Out of a straw. They are amazing animals.

Careful feeding this animals, when they're hungry they'll enter the attic or basement to get in the house to hunt for food--happened to my neighbor, his basement was ransacked by so many hungry raccoons--has to call the animal rescue for help--so beware !!!!my dear:)

Awesome name, Amanda! We set out a plate of cat food kibble each night and put a marshmallow on top! Those little rascals love the "fruit of the marshmallow tree"... See if you can't entice him back...poor little gimpy guy!

I see my words are at odds with Joey! Personally, I've fed them here in California and in the summers in Nova Scotia...never a problem, and they make for delightful photos! And I learned the marshmallow "trick" from another 365 photographer who said that's what her mom feeds them!

@maggiemae I suppose they could...they've got teeth... However, they use their paws to pick up food AND to take food offered to them. To tease them wouldn't be a good idea, but it's not a good idea to tease any animal!

I'm singing along ... what a great capture Amanda! Love it!

February 27th, 2016
He's cute, but raccoons can be a real nuisance. I hope he went on his merry way.

Scruffles!

Ready to leap at you? You know, I don't think I would like to find one of these on my back deck... out in the woods would be fine.. as long as it didn't object to my presence!

Kind of liking that Raccoona Matata!
