This man, standing on the streets of Juarez, stood out to me. He was quite the character in his bright rosa camisa, chains, suspenders and spiffy zapatos. Oh so dapper.
And in studying him now, like I couldn't do then, I notice that he is holding a new hat, a new sombrero. I wonder what it looks like.
This is an example of being caught when taking a candid and the look of contempt and confusion that you get. The "what the hell" moment when you are seen. I would probably give someone a similar look if I caught them snapping me.
So this is a shot for my hate theme that I was assigned this week. A hate theme...imagine that?! I don't think he really hated me, a gringo taking his photo. I think he was probably just wondering what the hell.
A serious character, though, right. I wonder what he does?
@shesnapped Here is my last take at Hate. Thanks for the themes and helping me get through winter. Next week I am thinking I'll end my project after 5 years, but we'll see. Not up for taking on new themes, though. It was fun!
What a great candid -- he does look proper dapper , shame the plastic carrier bag somewhat spoils the image !! ha ha -- he didn't expect you to photo him otherwise I am sure he would have hidden the bag !! fav
That's an excellent capture of that spiffy dude. I'm not sure how I'd interpret that look, he probably thought you were a bit cheeky. On the serious matter of you shutting down your project, you'll be missed. Perhaps you could continue in a more sporadic fashion and only post those more important events. Birthdays, graduations, National days, Spring etc. Hope to see you around for a while longer. Your call.
This is cool . Street photography is fun . At least I get a press pass . Shooting and posting every day keeps you in the game and tight . Making money at the same time justifies the comittment to your guy . This habit should be like brushing your teeth !
@habit I don't follow the 365 rules anymore. I shoot when I want to and am inspired to...perhaps several times a week. I love street photography and looooved my time in Mexico as our missions trip photographer. I would love to be that kind of photographer.
Set up a URL, (smithfieldeventphotograohy.com) make a press pass , make business cards with URL to find the photos , have professional photography services info available , shoot and have a blast . You are in business . Congratulations ! Ya . It is that simple .
hope you decide to stay
No problem on no more themes, but WHAT???? You might be done???? You're such a staple here!!!! You will be MISSED!!!
And from a caring, empathetic acquaintance POV, allow me to tell you that when you leave the project, you find yourself wanting it back.
I've come back with a very different take on it... I'm purposefully keeping my friend list manageable, and not letting it ever overwhelm.
So returning to the selfish part, you're one of the very few left!
