Yesterday I was off for the first time in awhile (off with no sick kids). It was a glorious full day of exercise and then I got it in my head to get out and hike. It was gorgeous out.
I tried unsuccessfully to get a couple friends to join me and checked in with Mike...was he ok with me going by myself? I wasn't so sure myself so wanted his opinion. His father was in law enforcement for 25+ years so we tend to be more cautious than most with safety (especially when it comes to me being alone in a secluded, potentially dangerous area).
Anywho, Mike asked me to take a weapon for protection so I took a knife and had it in my pocket. Thankfully, though I passed several people on the trail, I didn't have to knife anyone. I would call that a good day! Ok, for the record I have never had to knife anyone, but I did have someone try to abduct me years ago, or so it seemed (though while an adult).
I took the trail that we recently travelled on the owl prowl night...the one where a barred owl has been seen occasionally during the day. No sign of him, but I did get to see a pileated woodpecker, just like Woody from the cartoons. His red head and wing span was gorgeous.
Hope that you have a great Friday and safe weekend and that you only need to use your knife for cutting your food. Today I'm home with a sick kid. This has been a rough few weeks for our health:(.
What a day - and what a wonderful spotting! So glad you didn't have to use your knife (although your story made me wonder --reality? Because with Amanda you never know when there's a fabulous story behind the photo prep)
Super timing and I love the pop of red on his head. So pleased you didn't have to stab anyone :) Though now I am wondering about your 'nearly abducted' experience!!!
@linnypinny Actually happened twice. Never anything physical (I.e. grabbing, pushing) but twice really sketchy guys asked me to get in their car. Really creepy.
