coyote on ice

Walked some park trails along Lake Huron today and surprised to see this coyote walking near the shoreline. Read later that January-March is breeding season for coyotes so more likely to see them.
Great capture! Poor thing looks like it's been in a battle with that torn fur and bare tail.

Wow, now that is an interesting shot. I agree with Mags, this poor fellow/gal looks like it has been thru the mill, but still stands proud.

Great shot. It sure does look rather tattered from the fur and bare tail.

He looks cold and hungry. We have some in our area that attack dogs and cats. Scary.

Great capture. It’s tail is not in good shape.

Great shot but I think the coyote needs a thicker fur coat, it does look cold!

@quietpurplehaze @wakelys @yaorenliu @rickster549 @ggshearron @marlboromaam @thewatersphotos this is only the 2nd time I’ve seen a coyote but my research tells me they are found in every county in Michigan. I noticed that tail too…they are evidently prone to “mange mites” which cause them to itch/scratch/lose fur. Generally considered to be wary of humans, they can be a problem if they get too used to people. Have been known to attack pets.
