A happy chap! by andrina

A happy chap!

One of Liam's favourite places , the Railway museum. He had to have his photo in front of the Mallard, which is on loan at the moment to York to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Mallard's achievement.
On 3 July 1938, the A4 class locomotive Mallard raced down Stoke Bank at 126mph to set a new steam locomotive world speed record. That record still stands.

Only six of the 35 A4 locomotives built survive in the world. York Railway museum has temporarily repatriated Dwight D Eisenhower and Dominion of Canada from their home museums in Canada and the US for the celebrations. They return home again February 2014.

It is actually quite a difficult place to take photos, apart from the amount of people who were there, the lighting and reflections really meant I struggled!! There was not one photo to be honest I was happy with, but at least Liam likes this. :)
Wonderful shot! I am glad that Liam is into steam powered vehicles too.
