Leaving work this evening I thought about a couple of comments on my pic from 2 days ago of the Tower of London and The Glass Testicle... Darrell asking whether the testicle was the gerkin and Ed's great response about not eating at Darrell's if he couldn't tell the difference...
So.... with the gherkin in mind, I walked up to Broadgate and decided to grab a snap or two.
This doesn't do the building justice nor does it really show the gerkiness (is that a word) but I liked the refections of the clouds in the windows.
Of course, it's not really called The Gerkin, it's actually 30 St Mary's Axe. And here's some facts - It stands on the site of the Baltic Exchange, blown up by the IRA in the 1992 (felt that go off when I was at home) and is 591ft high, there is a bar on the 40th floor and like the testicle, was designed by Norman Foster.
Spent half the day stuck on trains... Had to go to a seminar in central London this morning, got caught up in central line problems, ended up squeezed in like sardines as the trained inced towards its destination.
Then on the way home, high winds had brought down overhead cables and it took me 2 hours to do a 25 min journey.
Another swim this evening - that's 3 days on the trot...
awesome stuff andy! my kind of photo :)) congrats for making it to the top 5 and possibly winning :) thanks very much for your comment, i'm just happy to take photos everyday, top 5 or not doesn't matter to me at all :) but i'm very flattered that my fellow very talented 365ers like my photos :)
