Firstly, I would like to point out I am seriously unhappy with this photo. I didn't come out any where near what I had in mind as I grabed a quick snap (there is my problem!! Too quick a snap) under an archway near to Limehouse station this evening.
I had hoped for something moody, depressing and slightly intimidating but ended up with this!
Had about 20 minutes messing about on picasa to try and make something of it, but gave up in the end and decided to upload.
Been extremely busy in work today, almost a complete re-write of the annual report and creating a presentation to accompany it, now home, quickly sorting out today's photo then off to my girlfriend's for the weekend.
Might be going to a safari park tomorrow so will hope for better photo opportunities there... happy weekend folks :-)
I can see what you were trying to achieve Andy, it's still a pretty good shot though. Perhaps you could try to under-expose the surrounding areas? Never tried Picasa so don't know how it works... Do you shoot in RAW?
I've used Picasa..... you could try PhotoScape, it's a free editor like Picasa and has a great sharpening tool and a backlight feature that can bring highlights up you don't realize that needed to be... It can be harsh if not careful though. I use Lightroom 3.2... it has a free trial with it.
I like your eye... I would have went for a shot in there too.. And I'm very guilty of quick snaps and hoping for the best.
The photo is cool Andy... Love the contrast of stones..
Andy, this is a light at the end of the tunnel photo. I would have to say go bright instead of moody and it works. Ha. I like it. Have a great weekend.
Hahaha, doesn't it burn when we just don't achieve the look/mood we set out to? Still, it's a great shot! Maybe you can do another version that fits the image in your head a bit better down the track. :D
Ok i agree that it is not moody and depressing but if you let that go you would see that you came up with a beautiful picture. Great perspective, wonderful leading lines and the light at the end of the tunnel is the icing on the cake!
Okay, so you are not happy with the way it turned out, but we all still think it's fantastic. If only we could see just exactly how it would turn out before we snapped the picture. I still love it!
I say you should return to this at night, the lights on the floor on the left could bring out a great shot. And then may be model leaning against the wall or something near similar...still sweet shot and looks like you've got plenty of feed back
Cricky guys... thanks for all you great comments, Am well surprised this pic would generate so many comments... All a bit of a surprise. Guess I was unhappy with it because it wasn't what I was hoping for but looking at it a couple of days later, I can see it's not as bad as I originally thought.
Aaron - like the idea... just have to sweet talk my girlfriend into being a model for the night...
