Commuting by andycoleborn

Commuting

Entrance, or maybe that should be the exit, of Canary Wharf underground station taken this evening just as the rush home was getting under way.

Took this holding the camera at waist height as I'm a little uneasy taking photos around Canary Wharf - especially as there was a number of 'tooled' up police standing about 10 feet behind me.

The station is huge and one of the most dramatic on the underground. It was designed by Norman Foster and opened in the late 1990s.

I used Lightroom and switched this to B&W inferred, then tweaked brightness/contrast etc a little.

Office lunch today and a chance to met up with colleagues from our other offices. It's something we do once a quarter and is a good way to catch up in a non-work environment and chill out for a couple of hours.

Miserable weather to come home to, raining and almost dark by 7pm..

Great shot. I am not a fan of altered shots but you have done a great job of this. Will be popping it into the favs. I saw the tooled up coppers walking south bank by the London Eye and that did my head in.

Thanks everyone
@farmboy9155 I'm also not really a fan of heavily processed shots but since downloading a trail of Lightroom, it is quite easy to get carried away messing about. I wouldn't have thought of doing this until then and was actually surprised how it came out and quite liked the effect. As for police with guns. I am still wary and a bit uncomfortable seeing that in London.

I like the B&W in this shot, laso like the tilted angle. Great shot.

For a rushed shot surround by police, this came out quality....top stuff man. Angle says it all

interesting angle on this station.. i used it fairly often! i think i will angle my head and try to see it through your camera's eyes.
i do think the station is quite impressive, when you go down and when you come up the escalators. sadly people working right there never see it, as they are just trying to get in and out as quickly as possible.

again very good angle and the lighting gives it an otherwordly feel! very nice
