I had inherited my D40 from my Dad about 15 months ago after his stroke which left his left hand a bit weak and unable to twist the lens.
Over the last year and a half, he's got quite a lot better and ended up buying himself a Canon DSLR. However, he was never happy with it and last week asked if he could have the D40 back.. I could hardly refuse..
He did offer me his Canon but well... Once a Nikon man, always a Nikon man I suppose :-)
Despite all this... it doesn't really mean I won't have access to the works D5000 as I tend to leave it in my bag most days...
This shot however, of some great looking clouds over the Solent looking toward the Isle of Wight, was taken with my P&S... Sometimes I forget just how good a cheap little P&S is...
Was back In Hampshire this evening to watch an abject display by Pompey... Losing 3-0 at home to Coventry. Then a nightmare journey home.. Normally it's a 2 hour drive. Tonight? A 4 hour drive thanks to night time road closures... Home at 1:40am..!!!!!!!!
this a great shot Andy, as for the Canon/Nikon thing I agree however I'm purely Canon. As for Pompey they need a complete restructuring on and off the pitch
Andy I am so glad you Dad has improved so much from his stroke that he is taking pictures again. Sucks that you have no camera but from the pic above you reallly dont need one.Lovely shot.
A beautiful calming picture Andy ...shame about Pompey and the journey home. I don't do night matches at the Reebok, the journey home late a night is always awful !!
thanks everyone :-) @rich57 Yeah... Leeds are trying their best to throw it away aren't they... @griff True! Although after the last year we've had, mid-table isn't too bad.. @phil_howcroft Last few years, the drive back is knocking me out more and more... bloody age!!! lol...
sounds like a dreadful ride home and then to find out today about your car, blah! Guess you need to start saving your pennies for you own nikon huh?! But you are correct your P&S does take great photos, but then again I am a firm believer that it is the person behind the camera not the camera that takes great pictures
thanks guys... @louisejb thanks.. no, this was 3:30.. sun doesn't set til 7:30ish nowadays, was just lucky with some great light and great clouds.. @andifree "blush".. :-) @shantwin I sort of 'own' the works Nikon D5000 so thankfully, it won't be too often I'll be DSLR-less... Plus have been thinking about some interest free deals..
@cookie123@hcochrane thanks for your kind words on my Dad... whilst he'll never be 100% like before, at least is mind is fully sharp and yeah, it's good that he has his hobbies and still loves taking pics... Much to my Mum's annoyance tho...lol
