Wishing Fence by andycoleborn

Wishing Fence

Walked past this fence near to Bethnal Green tube station this afternoon - apparently you are supposed to write down you wishes or hopes and add them to the fence...

Not sure what happens next, but fairly sure your wishes won't come true as I suspect this type of thing doesn't really work :-)...

Like the big bus / little bus combo too....

Can't believe there's only a couple of days left of the Olympics... Might go and watch the marathon tomorrow morning if I can get up in time...

I suspect they drop to the floor and are swept away without a second glance , like the pov & colour just pops out

nice one - where are you going to watch the marathon - I was going to head in too - I watched the Women's from just up from Temple as you get to see them going both ways...but wondered if I got there early enough whether the Monument area would be better...although the tube is entrance only?

@sparkle Not really too sure...If I go I was planning on parking in Spitalfields (I have a parking permit for an estate there) and walking up town and finding a decent spot somewhere - will give you a shout if I make it there

Here's a map with the projected times http://www.london2012.com/athletics/event=athletics-men-marathon/coursemap/

the fence makes a super abstract design in colour.

I suspect that what happens next is they get rained on. Makes a nice pic though. You and @sparkle have lots of Olympic energy left - I'm just fancying telly and a beer....

I agree with Judith, the rain will make them really soggy! People obviously walk round with really colourful paper in London!

@andycoleborn ok, I might head out that way - it makes little odds to me where I go as I'll be on the train! It will however depend what time I get up, I've got a 40th b'day celebrations to endure Saturday night!

Great colour! Yoko Ono did the same on a tree about 12 years ago, went to see her artwork when I was a student in Edinburgh. Its really quite sad reading everyone's thoughts, and of course, I had to peek!

A wishing fence is pretty cool. I'd roll up a wish and put it in the fence. I always toss a penny in a wishing well when I can.

This is so interesting! Wow! I really like the perpsective. I've never heard of a wishing fence.

Chances are one could come true! @blightygal Ha, I too would be curious of what was being written... Great shot Andy!

Love this +fav, so colourful and perfect with the iconic British bus in the background. There is a similar thing in Paris, except they attach padlocks to the railings on a bridge and it's supposed to help their lovelife. I think they write the name of their loved one on the padlock or something.
