I'm probably being a grumpy old fart, but I really don't like how Hallowe'en seems to have relegated Bonfire Night to an also-ran event.. Can't remember the last time I saw kids asking for a penny for the guy...
love the motion and color and grittiness of the street in this shot - - but two questions ..? what is "also-ran"? and..what do you mean "kids asking for a penny for the guy?"...what guy..?
@intymalcolm cheers... wasn't as mad as it looks, I was on the centre reservation so only risked getting poisoned by all the fumes :-) @sticksandstones an also-ran is erm.. second class/secondary that sort of thing... Bonfire night celebrate burning Guy Fawkes at the stake for trying to blow up Parliament in the Gunpowder Plot of 1605..... Kids use to make a effigy of Guy, and before buring him atop a bonfire would ask people for money - hence "Penny for the Guy" More here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guy_Fawkes
Cracking. Faved. Bonfire night always wins for me mate. Kids prefer Halloween as more sweets! Had to avoid chavs with guys outside asda only last week btw.
amazing colours and capture - looks like an ambulance (or police car) passed you by but you were obviously so engrossed with your shot you didn't notice !
