I'd always wanted to go to Dungeness ever since seeing a programme about it on tv many years ago.. So with the news that the Bank Holiday weekend was going to be sunny and even hot, I jumped in the car and drove to the south coast this morning...
And when I got there...It was freezing!!!! Blowing a gale and pourng with rain..!!
I sat in the car for a frustating hour hoping for a break but none looked like coming so I battled my way across a few miles of stoney beach for about 25 pics..!! Got soaked.!!
Dungeness is a strange place - mile upon mile of shingle - as far as you can see in every direction with these random wooden homes, a mix of decaying boats and still active fishing vessels and one giant nuclear power station...
Must go back in sunnier times as I'm sure there's a bundle of good photo opportunities there...
wonderfully striking... love the comp and low pov... and how the skeleton of that boat just fills the frame... such a bleak look about this (that's prolly the word i was looking for on your beach house shot ;p)
Like the sound of this place and great shot despite the wind and rain! In fact I'm wondering if i've been there, is there some houses that have fallen off the cliffs into the sea as the coastline has receded?
wow thanks for the great comments & favs guys... nice to check back in and see all your comments :-)
@rach57 Hiya.. no not hear - this place is as flat as a pancake (well, apart from some stone dunes!!!) I think the place you're thinking off is on the east coast somewhere Oop north)
@cazink yeah it is a fab place.... If you have sun on Monday I'm going to be very unhappy lol....
(PS That was summer)
